小泉八云 怪谈故事梗概
《怪谈杰作集 ―百物语之夜―》是一部漫画作品，带你一篇一篇地读完小泉八云的经典怪谈。小泉八云（拉夫卡迪奥·赫恩）是明治时代来到日本、后来取了日本名字的作家，他把日本古老的传说和旧书里的故事用英文重新写成怪谈。本作的原典主要是《怪谈》（Kwaidan，1904年），其中「茶碗之中」取自《骨董》（1902年）。
第1话「无耳芳一」讲的是盲眼琵琶法师芳一被在坛之浦覆灭的平家亡灵召唤，全身写满经文来保护自己，却唯独漏写了耳朵，结果双耳被夺走。第2话「雪女」中，樵夫巳之吉在暴风雪之夜被饶了一命，后来却打破了与妻子阿雪的约定。
第3话「貉」是无脸鬼的故事：夜里在纪伊国坂，先后遇到没有脸的少女和没有脸的荞麦面摊贩。第4话「辘轳首」里，武士出身的僧人回龙与头颅会离开身体的妖怪一家搏斗。第5话「茶碗之中」讲年轻侍从关内喝下了映在茶碗里的陌生面孔，是一个没有结局的奇异故事。
第6话「青柳」描写年轻武士友忠与柳树之精青柳的相恋与离别。这些日本怪谈名作不只是恐怖，还能让人尝到悲伤、滑稽和人情。本作借百物语之夜的说书形式，一篇一篇讲给你听。

第1话When the Dead Call His Name, Don't Answer — Hoichi the Earless

第5话He Drank the Face. Now It Comes Calling — In a Cup of Tea

原典中的故事小泉八云把故事放在文明年间（1469—1487年），那是日本中世后期的动荡年代。主人公友忠是侍奉能登大人的年轻武士，出生在越前，从小就在主君家中做事。他相貌俊美、举止得体，精通汉学，也擅长写和歌。一次，主君派他去京城拜访同族的细川大人，路上正好要经过越前。
第7话十七年后，客栈里送茶来的姑娘 ―阿贞的故事―
漫画剧情怪谈杰作集·第7话。十五岁就要离世的未婚妻许下约定：“我会再投胎一次，一定回到你身边。”十七年后，孤身踏上旅途的男人，在山中温泉客栈里，遇见一个素不相识的姑娘给他端来了一杯茶。
原典中的故事很久以前，在新潟的城里住着一位医生的儿子，名叫长尾长生。他自己也在学医，准备将来继承父业。长生从小就和阿贞定了亲。阿贞是长生的父亲的朋友家的女儿，两家约好，等长生学成之后就为二人举行婚礼。可是阿贞自幼体弱，十五岁那年患上了肺病（原文为consumption，即当时所说的痨病），她自己也明白已无法痊愈。
