貉（无脸鬼）（野篦坊）是谁？

貉
貉是日本人过去相信会变化成人形来捉弄人的野兽。在小泉八云《怪谈》的「貉」中，它以没有眼睛、鼻子和嘴巴的「无脸鬼」（野篦坊）模样吓唬人。日语里的「貉」一词，向来用来指獾或狸。
东京赤坂的纪伊国坂一到夜里就行人稀少，十分冷清。一天晚上，京桥的一位老商人在护城河边看见一个用袖子遮着脸哭泣的少女，好心上前搭话。少女转过身来，用手往脸上一抹，脸上竟然没有眼睛、鼻子和嘴巴。商人拼命逃跑，跟路边的荞麦面摊贩讲了刚才的遭遇，摊贩却说「是这样的脸吗？」一边抹了抹自己的脸，露出一张像鸡蛋一样光溜溜的脸。就在那一刻，灯火熄灭了。
故事中并没有明说少女和摊贩的真面目，但从标题来看，一般理解为是貉变化而成的。先让人以为得救、再吓第二次，这是无脸鬼故事的代表作。
