다케다 신겐 (가이의 호랑이)란?
'가이의 호랑이'라 불린 명장
다케다 신겐은 일본 전국시대 가이(지금의 야마나시현)의 다이묘입니다(1521~1573년). '가이의 호랑이'라 불렸으며, 시나노(지금의 나가노현)로 세력을 넓혔습니다. 그 과정에서 에치고의 우에스기 겐신과 가와나카지마에서 여러 차례 맞붙었습니다. 말년에는 대군을 이끌고 서쪽으로 진격했지만, 그 도중에 병으로 쓰러졌습니다.
제3화에서는 야마모토 간스케의 주군으로 등장합니다. 간스케를 겉모습으로 판단하지 않고 등용했으며, 가와나카지마에서는 간스케의 계책을 받아들여 군을 둘로 나누었습니다. 제4화의 주인공이기도 합니다. 새벽의 하치만바라에서 접이식 걸상에 앉아 지휘하고 있었는데, 안개가 걷히자 눈앞에 우에스기의 전군이 있었습니다. 동생 노부시게와 간스케의 전사 소식이 잇따르는 가운데서도, 본진으로 달려든 기마 무사로부터 살아남습니다.
이때 신겐이 지휘용 부채인 군배로 칼을 막아 냈다는 이야기가 널리 알려져 있으며, 가와나카지마의 명장면으로 동상도 세워져 있습니다.
