武田信玄（甲斐之虎）是誰？
人稱「甲斐之虎」的名將
武田信玄是日本戰國時代甲斐（今山梨縣）的大名（1521～1573年）。他被稱為「甲斐之虎」，將勢力擴展到信濃（今長野縣）。在這個過程中，他與越後的上杉謙信在川中島多次交戰。晚年他率大軍向西進軍，卻在途中病倒。
在第3話中，他以山本勘助的主君身分登場。他不以外貌評斷勘助而將他收為家臣，在川中島也採用勘助的計策，把軍隊分成兩路。他也是第4話的主角。黎明時分的八幡原上，他坐在床几（折疊式坐凳）上指揮作戰，霧一散開，眼前竟是上杉全軍。即使弟弟信繁與勘助戰死的消息接連傳來，他仍從殺進本陣的騎馬武士手下活了下來。
這時信玄用軍配（指揮用的團扇）擋下對方太刀的故事廣為人知，作為川中島的經典場面，還被做成了雕像。
