武田信玄（甲斐之虎）是谁？
人称“甲斐之虎”的名将
武田信玄是日本战国时代甲斐（今山梨县）的大名（1521—1573年）。他被称为“甲斐之虎”，把势力扩展到信浓（今长野县）。在此过程中，他与越后的上杉谦信在川中岛多次交锋。晚年他率大军西进，却在途中病倒。
第3话中，他以山本勘助主君的身份登场。他没有以貌取人，收用了勘助，并在川中岛采纳勘助的计策，把军队分为两路。他也是第4话的主角：黎明时分，他在八幡原坐在床几（折叠坐凳）上指挥，浓雾散开后，眼前竟是上杉全军。即使弟弟信繁和勘助战死的消息接连传来，他仍从杀进本阵的骑马武士手中活了下来。
当时信玄用军配团扇挡住对方大刀的故事流传很广，作为川中岛的名场面，还被做成了雕像。
