메리 머스그로브 (메리 엘리엇)란?
툭하면 아프다고 하는 막내 여동생
메리 머스그로브는 앤의 여동생이자 엘리엇 집안의 셋째 딸입니다. 어퍼크로스 지주 집안의 후계자 찰스 머스그로브와 결혼했으며 어린 아들 둘이 있습니다.
걸핏하면 "몸이 안 좋다"며 앤을 불러들이지만, 막상 앤이 오면 기운을 차리고 남편과 시댁 식구들에 대한 불만을 늘어놓습니다. 준남작의 딸로서 자리 순서나 신분에 집착해 시댁 식구들과도 자잘한 다툼이 끊이지 않습니다. 웬트워스 대령이 앤에 대해 한 말을 악의 없이 그대로 앤에게 전해 버리는 것도 그녀입니다.
제멋대로이고 시끄럽지만 어딘가 미워할 수 없는 인물로, 이야기에 웃음을 더하는 역할을 합니다.
