克勞夫特將軍（Admiral Croft）是誰？
承租凱林奇莊園的老水手
克勞夫特將軍是承租艾略特家凱林奇莊園的海軍少將。他曾參加特拉法加海戰，之後在東印度執行任務。
他一來看莊園就很快談妥租約，是個直率又隨和的海上男兒。他的妻子是溫特沃斯上校的姊姊，因為這層關係，上校才來到附近。即使華特爵士看不起海軍，將軍本人也毫不在意，個性十分開朗。
據說因為奧斯汀有兩個兄弟是海軍軍官，像將軍夫婦這樣的海軍人物在書中都被描寫得很正面。
