Who Is Elizabeth Elliot?
The proud eldest Elliot daughter
Elizabeth Elliot is Anne's older sister and the eldest daughter of the Elliot family. She is 29, beautiful like her father, and his clear favorite. Since their mother died, she has served as the lady of Kellynch Hall for 13 years.
Like her father, she values rank and appearances and opposes cutting back on their spending. She is eager to move to Bath and decides to bring along her close friend Mrs. Clay. She treats her sister Anne as unimportant as a matter of course and never asks for her opinion.
The novel also hints that she is a little anxious about still being unmarried, and that hidden worry behind her polished surface is part of what makes her interesting.
