Who Is Eurylochus (Eurylochos)?
Odysseus's cautious second-in-command
Eurylochus is one of Odysseus's men. In the original poem he is a senior officer and a relative of the king by marriage.
In this story, he leads the scouting party on Circe's island. When the goddess invites them into her hall, he suspects a trap and stays outside alone, so he escapes being turned into a pig and runs back to warn the others. Off the Sirens' island, he and Perimedes keep their promise and tie the king even tighter when he signals to be freed. In the manga, he also appears among the fleet from Episode 1 (an addition in the manga version).
In the original, he later speaks for the crew's feelings and clashes with Odysseus during the voyage. He is a very human character, both cautious and defiant.
