Who Is The Mother Goat?

A brave mother who rescued her children

The Mother Goat is the main character of the Grimm fairy tale "The Wolf and the Seven Young Kids" — an old mother goat who loves and raises her seven little kids with all her heart.

Before going into the forest to find food, she warns her children that they will recognize the wolf by his rough voice and black feet. Even so, the kids are tricked by the wolf while she is away. When she comes home, the door is open and the house is in chaos. The youngest kid, who hid in the clock case, tells her what happened, and she finds the wolf asleep in a meadow. She sends the youngest home for scissors, a needle, and thread, cuts open the wolf's belly, and pulls out all six kids alive. She fills his belly with stones instead and sews it shut, so when the wolf wakes up, he falls into the well.

The tale ends happily, with the mother goat and her children dancing around the well and crying, "The wolf is dead!"
