Who Is The Youngest Princess?

The princess who broke the frog's spell

The Youngest Princess is the heroine of the Grimm fairy tale "The Frog King, or Iron Henry" and the youngest daughter of a king. In the original tale she is so beautiful that even the sun in the sky marvels whenever it shines on her face.

When she drops her golden ball into a spring, a frog offers to fetch it if she will be his friend, let him eat from her little plate, and let him sleep in her little bed. She carelessly agrees. But as soon as she has her ball back, she leaves the frog behind and runs home to the castle. Her father, the king, orders her to keep her promise, so she reluctantly lets the frog join her at the table and in her bedroom. In the end, in a fit of anger, she throws the frog against the wall. In that instant the spell breaks and the frog becomes a prince again.

The famous scene where a kiss breaks the spell does not appear in the Brothers Grimm's original. It is thought to have spread through later retellings.
