Who Is The Frog King (The Prince) (The Frog Prince)?
A prince turned into a frog by a witch
The Frog / The Prince
The Frog King is the prince in the Grimm fairy tale "The Frog King, or Iron Henry." A wicked witch turned him into a frog, and he lived in a spring. His story is the very first tale, No. 1, in the Grimms' collection.
In exchange for fetching the princess's golden ball from the spring, the frog makes her promise to keep him by her side as a friend. When she breaks her promise, he comes knocking at the castle door the next day, calling, "Youngest princess, open the door for me!" and makes his way to her table and even her bedroom. When the princess finally throws him against the wall, he turns back into a prince with kind, beautiful eyes. He reveals that only she could have freed him from the spell, and with her father's blessing he becomes her husband.
In English the tale is widely known as "The Frog Prince," and it goes by several titles in other languages too.
