Who Is Sir Turquine (Tarquin) (Tarquin)?

The knight who hated Launcelot above all others

Sir Tarquin

Sir Turquine (Tarquin) is a powerful knight who defeated Knights of the Round Table one after another and locked them in his castle. He is known as the enemy who hated Launcelot more than anyone.

In Episode 6, he captures Lionel, Launcelot's traveling companion. Because Launcelot had killed his brother Carados, Turquine had sworn that Launcelot was the one man he would never spare. After the two reveal their names, they fight for more than two hours, and in the end Launcelot kills Turquine. With that, the sixty-four knights imprisoned in his castle are set free.

In Malory's original text his name is spelled "Turquine," and he is portrayed as the classic opponent who shows off Launcelot's strength. The fact that he had captured dozens of Knights of the Round Table shows just how strong he was.
