Who Is King Pellinore (Sir Pellinore)?
The mighty king who hunts the Questing Beast
King Pellinore is a powerful knight who endlessly hunts the "Questing Beast," and a king who later becomes one of Arthur's Knights of the Round Table. In Malory's stories, he is the father of Tor, Lamorak, and Percival.
In Episode 2, he has pitched a pavilion beside a well and challenges every passing knight to single combat. He fights the young Arthur, breaks his sword, and nearly kills him, but Merlin puts Pellinore to sleep with magic and saves Arthur. Merlin says that Pellinore will later be of great help to the kingdom. At the wedding in Episode 4, Pellinore sets out on a quest to chase a kidnapped lady, but along the way he abandons a young woman who begs for his help. Merlin later tells him that she was his own daughter.
Because he killed King Lot in battle, he also earns the hatred of Lot's sons, Gawain and his brothers.
