阿彌陀寺住持（阿彌陀寺和尚）是誰？
用經文保護芳一的和尚
阿彌陀寺住持是〈無耳芳一的故事〉中的僧人。他欣賞芳一彈琵琶和說唱的才華，讓芳一住在寺裡，照顧他的生活。
住持發現芳一每晚偷偷外出，便派寺裡的雜役跟蹤，這才知道芳一是被平家的亡靈召去。他擔心再這樣下去芳一會沒命，就和弟子小沙彌兩人在芳一全身寫滿《般若心經》，並叮囑他：「就算被叫，也絕對不要回應，不要動。」有了經文，亡靈就看不見芳一的身體。但是耳朵上沒有經文，所以耳朵被奪走了。
隔天早上，住持發現芳一滿身是血，向他道歉，說是自己沒確認耳朵有沒有寫上經文，是自己的疏失。接著他請來醫生為芳一治療。弟子小沙彌也在故事裡出現，是和住持一起寫經文的人。
