Who Is The Wild Ducks (The Flying Ducks)?
The flock that carries the Baron through the sky
The Flock of Wild Ducks
The Wild Ducks are a flock gathered on a lake that serve as both the Baron's prey and his means of flying through the air in his hunting tales.
Once, the Baron spots wild ducks on a lake after losing the flint from his gun. He punches himself in the eye to make sparks, fires the gun with them, and brings down several ducks with a single shot. In another episode, he ties a piece of fat to the end of a long cord and tosses it into the water. Each duck swallows the fat, which passes through its body to be swallowed by the next, until the ducks are strung together along the cord like beads.
Then the whole flock takes off at once, carrying the Baron home with the cord wrapped around his body. Steering with the tails of his coat, he brings them lower and drops down the kitchen chimney, giving the cook the fright of a lifetime. Together, the gun trick and the flight home form one of the signature sequences in the Baron's hunting tales.
