Who Is Athena (Athene)?
Goddess of wisdom and war
Pallas Athena
Athena is the Greek goddess of wisdom and war and a daughter of Zeus. Called "the gray-eyed goddess," she sides with the Greeks in the Trojan War.
In Episode 1, sent down from heaven by Hera, she seizes Achilles by his golden hair from behind just as he begins to draw his sword against Agamemnon. Only Achilles can see her. She tells him to wound Agamemnon with words, not with the blade, and promises that one day gifts three times as great will come to him. Achilles slides his sword back into its sheath.
Athena is also known from the myth that she was born from the head of Zeus, and she was worshipped as the guardian of the city of Athens.
