Who Is Akita of the Imbe Clan of Mimurodo (Imbe no Akita)?
The man who gave Princess Kaguya her name
Mimurodo Imbe no Akita
Akita of the Imbe Clan of Mimurodo is the man who gave Princess Kaguya the name "Nayotake no Kaguya-hime." The Imbe (also written Inbe) are known as a clan involved in the imperial court's rituals for the gods.
When the girl found in the bamboo had grown into a young woman in about three months, the old bamboo cutter invited Akita to name her. "Nayotake" means young, supple bamboo, a fitting name for a princess born from bamboo. After the naming, a celebration was held for three days, with many guests invited to enjoy the festivities.
He appears only briefly at the very beginning of the story, but he is an important figure: he created the name "Kaguya-hime," which has been passed down for more than a thousand years.
