Who Is Hojo Ujinao (Hōjō Ujinao)?
Fifth head of the Hojo clan, master of the Fuma
Hojo Ujinao was the fifth head of the Odawara Hojo clan, which ruled the Kanto region of eastern Japan during the Warring States era. In the Hojo Godaiki he appears as the clan lord who retains 200 rappa and faces Takeda Katsuyori at the Kise River, though this episode says almost nothing about his personality.
He appears in episodes 3 and 4 of this manga as a young commander. Facing a standoff with the Takeda, he summons Fuma and flinches for a moment at his monstrous appearance, yet hears out the plan and decides to entrust the mission to him. He is the supreme commander on the Hojo side in the battle where night raids break the Takeda camp.
His mother is said to have been a daughter of Takeda Shingen, which made Takeda Katsuyori his uncle. In 1590 he surrendered during Toyotomi Hideyoshi's attack on Odawara and was sent to Mount Koya, where he died the following year. This marked the end of the Hojo as a Warring States power.
