Who Are the Ando Iga-no-kami / Inaba Iyo-no-kami / Ujiie Bokuzen (Western Mino Triumvirate)?

Three leading Mino warriors who sided with Nobunaga

Mino Triumvirate (Mino Sanninshu)

The Mino Triumvirate (Mino Sanninshu) is the name for three powerful warriors who served the Saito clan of Mino Province: Inaba Iyo-no-kami (Ittetsu), Ujiie Bokuzen, and Ando Iga-no-kami (Ando Morinari). Because their power lay in western Mino, they are also called the Western Mino Triumvirate.

In this manga they appear in Episode 4. In 1567 the three offer to leave Saito Tatsuoki and side with Nobunaga, and this prompts Nobunaga to surround Inabayama Castle swiftly and take Mino.

Ando Iga-no-kami was Takenaka Hanbei's father-in-law, and it is commonly said that he helped when Hanbei seized the castle, though this still needs to be verified. Inaba Iyo-no-kami was known for his stubbornness, and one theory says he is the origin of the Japanese expression "ganko itteтsu" (stubborn to the core).
