Yozei-in
Lady Yozei-in was the wife of Lord Asano Takumi-no-Kami; her original name was Aguri. She was born into the Asano family of Miyoshi in Bingo Province.
After her husband's seppuku, she cut her hair, became a nun under the name Yozei-in, and lived in her birth family's mansion. Before the raid, Oishi Kuranosuke had a ledger delivered to her that recorded the money spent on the comrades' activities.
The famous scene of Oishi visiting her to say goodbye before the raid, known as the “farewell in the snow at Nanbuzaka,” was created later by storytellers and playwrights.
