Who Is Angada?
The young prince who leads the southern search
Angada is a young prince of the monkey people in the Ramayana, the son of the monkey king Vali and Queen Tara.
Before Vali died from Rama's arrow, he entrusted his son Angada to Rama and Sugriva. When his uncle Sugriva became king, Angada was named crown prince and put in charge of the search party sent south to find Sita.
But the one-month deadline passed and Sita still had not been found. Afraid of being punished, Angada decided to starve himself to death. Then Sampati appeared with news that gave him hope again, and he watched Hanuman make his great leap. In the later war, Angada also serves as Rama's messenger to Ravana.
