Quack Eye Doctor (Inu no Me)
The Quack Eye Doctor is the eye doctor in the classic rakugo tale Inu no Me ("The Dog's Eyes"). Despite his reputation, his skills are nonsense, and he gets out of every blunder with whatever idea pops into his head, making him the center of the comedy.
In Episode 6, he takes out the eyeballs of a man with sore eyes, washes them, and leaves them to dry on the veranda. But a stray dog wanders in and eats them. In a bind, the doctor talks it over with his assistant, takes out the dog's eyes, and puts them into the man instead. Yabu-isha, the Japanese word for "quack doctor," is an old term for a doctor with poor skills.
