Who Are the Inaba Iyo-no-kami / Ujiie Bokuzen / Ando Iga-no-kami (Mino Sanninshu)?
The three warlords who decided Inabayama's fate
The Mino Triumvirate
The Mino Triumvirate (Mino Sanninshu) were three powerful Mino warlords who served the Saito clan: Inaba Iyo-no-kami (Ittetsu), Ujiie Bokuzen, and Ando Iga-no-kami (Morinari). They were also called the Western Mino Triumvirate because of their strong power in western Mino, and their actions decided the fate of the province.
In Episode 5, they give up on Saito Tatsuoki and offer together to join Nobunaga. Nobunaga sends Murai Minbu-no-jo and Shimada Tokoro-no-suke to collect hostages, but moves his army toward Inabayama without waiting for the hostages to arrive. The Shincho Koki records that when the three rushed to the scene, they were astounded by his speed.
All three went on serving and fighting for Nobunaga. Ujiie Bokuzen died in battle during the 1571 attack on Nagashima, and Ando Morinari was later banished. Inaba Ittetsu is also known from the theory that he inspired the Japanese expression ganko ittetsu, meaning "stubborn to the core."
