Who Is Mori Shinsuke (Mori Yoshikatsu)?
The samurai who killed Imagawa Yoshimoto
Mori Shinsuke was a samurai who served Oda Nobunaga and the man who killed Imagawa Yoshimoto at the Battle of Okehazama. He is said to have later taken the name Mori Yoshikatsu. His family is not related to the Mōri clan, the famous daimyo family of western Japan's Chūgoku region.
Shinsuke plays a key role near the end of Episode 2. According to the Shinchō Kōki, his comrade Hattori Koheita attacked Yoshimoto first but was cut in the knee and fell. Shinsuke then wrestled Yoshimoto to the ground and took his head.
A story has also been handed down that, at that moment, Yoshimoto bit Shinsuke's finger.
