Who Is Hoori (Yamasachihiko) (Yamasachihiko)?
The younger brother who visited the sea god's palace
Hoori-no-Mikoto
Hoori (Hoori-no-Mikoto) is a god in the Kojiki, the son of Ninigi and Konohana-no-Sakuyabime, also known as Yamasachihiko, "the Luck of the Mountains." He was the youngest of the three brothers born in the flames, and his other name is Hikohohodemi-no-Mikoto.
He hunted animals in the mountains, but he traded tools with his older brother Hoderi (Umisachihiko), went fishing, and lost his brother's fishhook. No matter how many replacement hooks he made, his brother would not forgive him. As he cried by the shore, the god Shiotsuchi told him to go to the palace of the sea god. There he married Toyotamabime, and three years later the sea god used his power to find the hook in the throat of a sea bream. Back on land, he brought his brother under control with a curse taught to him by the sea god and two jewels that made the tide rise and fall. Later, although his wife asked him not to look while she gave birth, he peeked, and she returned to the sea.
Hoori is the grandfather of Emperor Jimmu.
