Who Is Fujiwara no Yasuhira?
Hidehira's heir, who broke his father's last wish
Fujiwara no Yasuhira is the son of Fujiwara no Hidehira and the fourth head of the Ōshū Fujiwara clan.
On his deathbed, his father told him to make Yoshitsune their commander and stand ready against Kamakura. But Yasuhira gives in to pressure from Kamakura, breaks his father's last wish and his own oath, and attacks Yoshitsune's Takadachi residence at Koromogawa with a large army, driving Yoshitsune to his death.
Even after killing Yoshitsune, he was not forgiven by Yoritomo. Kamakura's great army soon attacked, and the Ōshū Fujiwara clan was destroyed. Yasuhira himself is said to have been killed by one of his own retainers while fleeing.
